The Chosen One review – Krunchyworks.com
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
Here is my humble review on this superb art piece directed by Lena Khan.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
At the beginning of the clip, we see a neighbour dumping her thrash to Maher Zain’s front door causing inconvenience to him.
He knew the culprit but did not confront nor did he retaliate for that matter but instead he just walked on ahead, neglecting the problem.
Did you know that Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H faced the same problem?
Every morning as he walked out of his front porch to perform the daily Subh prayer, he would encounter a lump of trash intentionally thrown on his way to the mosque as show a sign of hatred towards his existence. Nonetheless, he did not whined nor retaliate. Instead, he cleaned it up once he got back from the mosque.
These happenings kept on going for quite some time. Until one fine morning, Prophet Muhammad was surprised to see that there was no lump of thrash on his front porch, and was later informed that his neighbour was sick.
Surprisingly, he cooked for his sick neighbour to help him on a speedy recovery. His neighbour soon converted to Islam.
(As seen towards the end of the videoclip where Maher Zain was cooking.)
Mashallah ! How kind and compassionate our Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H was towards his neighbours.
Abu Hurayrah (radhiallahu anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) said:
“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say what is righteous or keep silent.
Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him be kind to his neighbor.
And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him be generous to his guest.” [Saheeh Muslim]”
The next scene portrayed a number of bad habits; namely gambling, drinking and stealing which are forbidden in Islam.
What caught my attention was the last example of a homeless man who was looking worried as he asked for a small sum of contribution. When given a small token, he ran away as fast as he could. Why, you may ask?
Well if you watch closely, instead of keeping it for himself, he walked towards an old homeless man who was lying at the corner of a store and gave away the sum that was given to him. Mashallah, another great example is shown here.
Did you know that whatever our Prophet Muhammad received, he gave away to others and felt more pleasure than those who received the gift.
He never turned anyone away empty-handed from his house and always gave preference to the needy over his own needs.
Ibn `Abbas said that he heard Allah’s Messenger say, “The believer is not the one who eats when his neighbour beside him is hungry,”
Next is a household that practices the way and kindness of Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H.
A boy wearing a blue tee was helping his Grandfather picking up a thread that may have been accidently knocked over.
At the same time his father who was praying was very patient with his younger brother as he climbs on his back.
As the boy strolls outside with his baseball he saw a man dropping a piece paper, he quickly picked it up and threw it towards the trash can.
Next we can see a boy collecting water from a shoe to give it to a dog. This is another example of how broad the prophet’s kindness is even towards animals.
It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad said, “While a man was walking on a road he became very thirsty. He found a well, he went into it, drank, and came out. Upon coming out of the well he found a very thirsty dog that was breathing hard and quickly.
The man said: ‘This dog has become stricken with the same degree of thirst which had stricken me.’
The man went down into the well and filled his shoe and then held it in his mouth until he climbed out and gave the dog water to drink.
Allah thanked the man for his good deed and forgave his sins.”
Upon listening to this story, One of Muhammad’s companions asked,
“O Messenger of Allah, are we rewarded for taking care of beasts?”
Muhammad said, “There is a reward for you in every living creature.”
Next is an old man who was carrying his groceries and it seems like the groceries are too heavy for him.
Soon we see a young lad wearing a red tee helping the old man carrying his things. Prophet Muhammad said:
“He is not of us who is not affectionate to the little ones, and does not respect the old; and he is not of us, who does not order which is lawful, and prohibits that which is unlawful.” Also, He said: “Verily, it is one of the respects to Allah to honor an old man.”
Spread the love and Kindness, Wallahu A'lam. Share your views below =)
